Play as an e-mail scammer working during the late-'90s. Use the power of deduction, choose the template, and choose the words to create the perfect e-mail based on your victim's personality.
About the Project
The idea for this game was to create a 'Game for Impact'. Deciding to take a unique spin on the common email scammer trope, we wanted to explore why people actually scam in the first place. By placing the player in the role of a scammer, we could explore the psychology behind it, narratively showcasing the desperation and moral dilemmas that lead people to scam others. To best illustrate this morally-gray concept, inspiration was taken from Papers, Please with a 90's nostalgic computer aesthetic to wrap the experience in. Whilst the game is very unserious and comedic, it was important that the world building and lore I created all linked back to real world issues.
Key focuses
My key focuses for this project was programming the custom Technical Narrative Design, Research & Narrative Design, the dynamic scoring system, optimization and testing and general Game Design.
